The “firmware” is the software that’s inside the Core device itself. When you see a message indicating that it needs to be updated, this means we have released a newer version of this software, and Core needs a moment to transfer it from the app and install it.
This process happens automatically during initial setup and should only take less than a minute to download and install, depending on the speed of your internet connection. Make sure that you don't interrupt this process by quitting the app, moving the Core out of rage, or resetting the Core device while the update is processing.
After initial setup, updates to your Core should happen automatically and infrequently.
Make Sure You're Charged
Before a firmware update can begin, your Core will need to be at least 50% charged. If your battery level is too low to begin, the app will inform you that you need to charge your device.
Android Users
If you're an Android user, make sure that you have location services enabled on your phone -- for newer versions of the Android OS, this is required in order for Bluetooth to work correctly. If you have location services disabled, you may run into problems trying to complete the firmware update.
